Sponge: Colablablab VCUarts, Richmond, Virginia. Spring 2010.

The first semester-long iteration of Sponge is Colablablab, an experiment in curricular ecology. Colablablab is a Spring 2010 class offered through the VCU Painting & Printmaking Department and hosted in Sponge headquarters.

Colablablab is a collaboration between art and science students from the School of the Arts and the Department of Biology. Colablablab students and their instructor take a Biological Concepts lecture and lab section together. The class takes a class. Colablablab is a visual art class organized around the study of another discipline, in this case Biology. It is a “metalab,” a lab about a lab.
