Spring Hills Farm

2003-2004

From the winter of 2003 until the fall of 2004, I commuted back and forth to Spring Hills Farm, a 400-acre organic farm in Northeastern Pennsylvania. I worked with the farm to produce marketing materials in exchange for the time I spent there.

In November, 2004, I performed Spring Hills Farm, a monologue about my farm adventures, as part of SculptureCenter's In Practice series.  Through slides and anecdotes, I described  the place and its history, my quest for the perfect pair of workboots, and how the project became a meditation on my artistic practice as a whole.  The handmade booklets that I produced for the farm were available to viewers so that they could plan a back-to-the-land experience of their own.
